Love is God

Captu re

Bible makes a significant statement- ‘God is Love’. It is absolutely a matter of personal realization that God is the purest form of love – in fact, love embodied. Also, it implies that anyone who does not love, does not know God. With all respect and due reverence I intend to take this holy statement the other way around as well- Love is God i.e. feeling true love for somebody amounts to directly experiencing God. Now, the question arises what is love.

Generally, we define love as fondness, affection and adoration but the touchstone is that there should be no deliberate reason for this liking or attachment. Love is an instinctive string which unknowingly pulls souls towards one another. Physical attributes, good or bad traits and demographic factors hold no relevance for this subtle emotion. Further, love is not subject to any declared affiliation yet the lover gets intrinsically bound with the beloved and feels the joy of full freedom in this desired bondage.

One just cannot help loving and the intensity keeps on steadily rising, whatever the situation be. There is not only surrender rather a total immersion of one’s own self into the one who is loved, irrespective of the physical distance. This happens naturally in due course and can never be forced upon. Love makes us delight in the happiness of the loved one and there remains no separate demand for our own sake. It is no business of give and take but only one way track of doling out. There are no expectations from the other side but only cheerful acceptance of whatever comes from that end.

Next is the impact of this sublime bonding on our overall attitude. It has the unique divine energy of completely transforming the aura of the one in love. The elated spirit of love frees our heart from all sort of negative tendencies. One of the Indian Saints, Swami Akhandanand Saraswati, stated that the heart holding true love for somebody has no room for hatred, envy or animosity for anybody else because love is the antonym of all these words. So, there begins an innate flow of generosity, humility and goodness for everyone around. It comes into expression through selfless service and wishing well for all. As a result, the entire universe is felt to be pleasing and loveable.

Getting hold of such a magnanimous vision, symbolized by wilful dissolution of the self and benevolence for others, is palpably an encounter with GOD Himself.

“इक-तरफा इश्क सज़ा देता है, दो-तरफा इश्क मज़ा देता है
हर-तरफ का इश्क खुदा होता है।”

Hence I am convinced that God is love and Love is God. Please feel free to correct me.🙏

  1. But again in Bible it clearly states in Corinthians chapter 13: verses 4-5.
Love is patient, Love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It does not dishonor others, it is not self – seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs
These qualities itself are Godly…isn’t it. If as human we can achieve these qualities in our love then yes as God is Love ….Love is God too.
The Bible even says in John 3:16
For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life.
How much this is possible in earthly love is a big question….this again makes us wonder. Yes God is love but is love really God?

                  1. i began my blog (108 day Vow) writing about His Flute and then i just started posting poems.
Someone wrote a comment yesterday – “When will you finish the flute story?” I was asking our Lord – “i don’t even know anything, what to do?”
And today you told me about Venu Geet…our life is a story in which He is the writer. Can’t wait to see what He has in store next! 🙂

  3. Thank you so much for sharing this thoughtful post.. I believe everyone would agree the statement “God is love” Best example is mom and dad..
I also agree with “Love is god” as giving love and care to anyone in the world directly reaches the god.

  4. Thank you for thoughtful post… I am always amazed by how many will say they love God but fail to love their neighbour. There is always a reason why they treat people a certain way but I always remind them if you don’t know how to act remember that God is love and as he put not conditions on loving you, why then do we put conditions on why some people deserve love than others. So I agree God is love, and love is God… Where we fail is we measure God’s love by our own limitations rather than accept that with God there are none.

    Thanks again 🙏❤️

    1. The pangs and tears of true love are always felt to be sweet, worth much more than smiles.
      “कौन कहता है कि हिजर से वसल अच्छा है
      यह उनका ख्याल होगा जिनका प्यार अभी कच्चा है।”
      हिजर means separation
      वसल means union
Thts my personal opinion. Your disagreement is welcome 🙏

  5. We love because God loved us first ❤ (1 John 4:19)
This is beautifully written. Numerous times throughout the Bible (God's Word) He instructs that we love one another; treat others in the same manner that we'd like to be treated. "Most import of all, continue to show deep love for each other, for love covers a multitude of sins." – 1 Peter 4:8. Always remember to put God first in all you do. I believe that if we have our hearts aligned with His then our relationships here on earth will be more fulfilling. With love in Christ, Bekah
